Prof. Isma'ila Abubakar Tsiga

The Nigeria Centre for Reading Research and Development (NCRRD) was established on 3rd October 2017, as a collaborative project between Bayero University, Kano (BUK) and the Florida State University (FSU), Tallahassee, USA. The decision to establish the centre followed the report by a team of reading experts from the FSU’s Learning Systems Institute (LSI) and its famous Florida Centre for Reading Research (FCRR), who had participated in planning the Northern Education Initiative Plus (NEI+) project, an intervention designed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to support the teaching of early grade reading in Nigeria.
